Set up iCloud+ with Wix

27th Nov 2024

This is a guide for those that may wish to connect their Wix domain name to iCloud+. I had to read various replies on forums and articles to get my account to work, I have created this guide so that you do not have to go through the same difficulties as I did.

There are some limitations that I must point out before you decide to connect the two together. I assume you are intending to replace Wix email with iCloud+. In the basic setup with Wix email, if a contact form submits a name, email, and message it will go to your Wix inbox, and Wix will notify you via email that there is a message in your inbox. Within this email you have the option to respond (button), if pressed it will take you to your Wix account where you can reply to the message.

Once iCloud+ email is set up, you will receive the same message in your inbox at iCloud+, if you press the respond button it will take you back to the Wix site. Or one can copy the email address included in the email and start a new thread with your domain email address.

So there are some limitations to this set up, it is not seamless, if you want to reply directly to the message without going through the extra step of copying the email address and starting a new thread, then I suggest that you purchase the business email setup with Wix. With the business email, you can also include an image so that the recipient will receive your logo in their inbox. iCloud+ does not have this option, but you can include a logo in the signature.

Setup iCloud+ with Wix Domain

Apple will provide the following information to update your Wix DNS settings:

MX:

host @

Value mx01.mail.icloud.com.

Priority 10

MX:

host @

Value mx02.mail.icloud.com.

Priority 10

TXT:

Type TXT

Host @

Value apple-domain=DPMn9U7WvgJ7M0DP

SPF:

Type TXT

Host @

Value “v=spf1 include:icloud.com -all”

DKIM

Type CNAME

Host sig1._domainkey

Value sig1.dkim.[example.com].at.icloudmailadmin.com.

Take note:

**Do not include the quotes or end punctuation, for example; use mx02.mail.icloud.com instead of mx02.mail.icloud.com. Wix will not work if you include the quotes of the SPF value, or the full stop at the end of the DKIM value.

Once you have the above information go to your Wix settings and under general you will find Domains. On the next screen your website will be listed with 3 small dots to the right, click on that and a menu will appear at the bottom, select edit MX Records. Select (Other) and use the + Add another button to add another field. Now enter the two Value for the MX into the Points to fields. One will be priority 10 the other will be 20, click save. Now back to the 3 dots on the right and select (Manage DNS Records).

In the TXT (Text) section, click on the + Add Record at the bottom and enter the TXT Value and leave the Host name blank. Do the same for the SPF, add the value without the quotation marks and leave the host name blank. Click save on the right.

Finally, in the CNAME (Aliases) section click on the + Add Record at the bottom and enter the DKIM (same as CNAME) this time fill the Host field and the Value field minus the punctuation mark at the end. Click save on the right, you may get a warning that this will disrupt the site, if you have put in the values correctly, ignore the warning and save.

Summary

Add two MX settings.

Add two in the TXT section.

And one in the CNAME (Aliases), DKIM

Don’t forget to change your email address to your new iCloud+ domain email address, so that all emails are forwarded to your domain address.
